Introduction
- C14415 /C14410 (CuSn0.15) is a low-tin copper alloy primarily composed of copper with 0.15% tin.
Common temper classes include R360 and R420. It has a higher softening temperature than pure copper and offers excellent creep resistance, stress relaxation, and fatigue performance. This alloy is highly corrosion-resistant and free from stress corrosion cracking. It combines moderate strength and good electrical conductivity with excellent formability. Additionally, it exhibits outstanding performance in hot dip tin, welding, and plating. - Conductivity: Although the addition of tin slightly reduces conductivity, the tin content is only 0.1%-0.15%, allowing the alloy to maintain conductivity above 80% IACS, making it suitable for electrical applications.
- Corrosion Resistance: The alloy demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance in various environments, especially in moist and corrosive media.
- Strength: Compared to pure copper, CuSn0.15 has higher strength, providing greater stability under load and pressure applications.
- Hardness: The addition of tin increases the alloy’s hardness, allowing it to retain good anti-softening capabilities even at high temperatures.
- Fatigue Resistance: It offers good fatigue resistance, suitable for parts that endure alternating stresses over extended periods.
- Creep and Stress Relaxation: CuSn0.15 alloy shows excellent resistance to creep and stress relaxation under high temperatures and prolonged loads.
- Stress Corrosion Cracking Resistance: This alloy has good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, making it highly suitable for use in stressed environments.
- Welding and Hot Dip Tin: The alloy exhibits good weldability, supporting various welding techniques, including resistance welding, brazing, and laser welding. Additionally, it performs well in hot dip tin, which can be used as a surface coating to enhance corrosion resistance.
- Plating Performance: It is well-suited for electroplating and can undergo various surface treatments to improve durability and appearance in specialized environments.
