Introduction
- C18080 (CuCrAgFeTiSi) is a heat-treatable copper alloy, designated as K88 by Wieland, and is known for its outstanding properties. Composed primarily of copper (Cu) with the addition of chromium (Cr), silver (Ag), iron (Fe), titanium (Ti), and silicon (Si), this alloy’s carefully designed composition endows it with high strength, high hardness, excellent corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance. It exhibits exceptional performance, particularly in terms of electrical conductivity and stress resistance at elevated temperatures.
- Electrical Conductivity: C18080 exhibits high electrical conductivity at 392°F (about 200°C), making it suitable for electrical applications.
- Stress Resistance: This alloy has good stress resistance, maintaining stable performance under high loads and at elevated temperatures.
- Heat Treatment: The alloy can be further strengthened and hardened through heat treatment, making it suitable for high-strength applications.
- Formability: C18080 has excellent formability, accommodating various processing methods, including both cold and hot working.
- Corrosion Resistance: Its composition allows for good performance in corrosive environments, making it suitable for marine and chemical applications.
